5 Bizarre Sea Mysteries

When you go to a beach, all you see is the golden sand and the sparkly waters. But as you go further, the sea gets deeper and it hides many secrets beneath it. From lost ships to airplanes, there are a lot of things that the sea is able to hide. While we as humans do not have the power to uncover all the mysteries, some of them have been uncovered over the years.

Here are some of the bizarre sea mysteries:

      1. The disappearance of the USS Scorpion
In the February of 1968, a submarine called USS Scorpion carrying 99 men departed from Virginia and headed towards the Mediterranean Sea. The submarine was supposed to complete its journey in three months, but it never made it.

The wreckage of the submarine was finally found in October and the experts discovered that all the 99 men had died. While the investigation was just starting over the case, the Titanic sank and all the attention got diverted there.

There have been theories that some Soviet spies sank the ship or there was some malfunction in the submarine, but it’s difficult to imagine how everyone in it died. And how none of the bodies were never found.

2. The cell phone footage of murder at sea
In Fiji in 2014, an abandoned phone was found by someone in a taxi. When he tried to look inside the phone to find clues about the phone’s owner, he found a chilling footage on the phone and put it online.

The video showed four men barely clinging to a small boat and several people around them standing on tuna long liners. Each of those men on the small boat was shot in the head one by one, and none of the witnesses objected or said anything. After the video went viral online, authorities got hold of that and tried to search the people in the video. Even with so many witnesses, none had reported anything and even now the authorities haven’t found any clues.

3. The existence of Barmeja islands
Bermeja Island was a part of Mexico. These islands were supposedly part of Mexico’s economic zone, had major oil resources and housed many important treaty documents of the country. But this was all in the 1970s, the island suddenly disappeared 20 years later.

A book was written about the same matter and Mexico started a search for the island in 2009 but it was nowhere to be found. Of course, the conspiracy theorists started pointing this to the CIA. According to them, the CIA might have blown up the island to increase uss nautical zone.

But here is where things get even more interesting – The Barmeja Island was found on maps between 1535 and 1775 but after that the island disappeared from all the maps and finally resurfaced back in 1857, only to disappear again. The island still hasn’t been found, but who knows, it might just come back again.

4. The disappearance of SS Edmund Fitzgerald
In November of 1965, SS Edmund Fitzgerald along with another ship carrier, Anderson, departed from Detroit. Just around the same time a very bad storm hit Lake Superior, which is almost like an inland sea.

Because of the storm, both the ships had to change their course towards the Whitefish Bay. Fitzgerald’s captain McSorley had contacted the Coast Guard and updated them that the ship was in difficulty, but that was all he had said. After one hour the ship lost contact with the Coast Guard. Anderson made its way back safely to Whitefish the next day.

When Anderson’s captain went back in the bad storm to look for Fitzgerald, all he found was an empty life boat and a floating life jacket. After the storm calmed down, search parties were sent to look for the ship and eventually its debris was found 150 meters below the sea level. But here is the confusing part – none of the bodies of the 40 people on the ship were ever found and nobody knows what actually happened.

5. The message in a bottle
In Australia in 1988, two friends John Blissett and Michael Calvin had just bought a luxury boat called Patanela. They started to take a trip by themselves before starting their very own luxury sail business.

On their journey, John wrote a letter to his sister telling her their travel plans and his location. He also mentioned that he is keeping a letter in a bottle and throwing it into the sea. Whoever finds that letter would get a free trip on their boat. A few weeks later, John posted the letter, their ship completely disappeared from the coast and it was never found.

In 2007, the letter John put in a bottle was discovered by a girl, but sadly no one knows what actually happened to Patanela.

Which is the spookiest and bizarre sea mystery you have ever heard?

How To Tell If Your Boss Hates You

Just like in the movies, workplaces can sometimes become quite a hassle to juggle with pressures from the worldly responsibilities. Bad blood with colleagues is still a given because, at some level of your working relationship with them, there will come an occasion when you may have to disagree on what they have to say and vice versa. But, bad blood with the boss? It’s not like how it fairs with colleagues. If you have a boss who’s widened the gap between the two of you just because he has a bias against you or simply put hates you, there’s nothing that you can do about it. But there are ways to tell if your boss hates you.

They Openly Criticize Your Work
If your boss hates you, he/she will completely disregard your good work for the little mistakes that you’ve made from the beginning until he decides to go overboard and humiliate you in front of others in the workplace, especially managers.

You’re Left Out Of Important Meetings
If your boss hates you, he/she will see to it that you’re not given the essential details that you absolutely require for the project you’re working on. Your boss can do this easily by excluding you from important meetings, completely ignoring your presence in the office, etc. This way, you’re perceived as incompetent and careless, and your boss gets away looking completely righteous.

They Talk About You To Others
Needless to say, it’s not good to talk. If your boss hates you, he/she will pass certain rumors around the office and bad-mouth you whenever it pleases him/her. This way, other colleagues may act more nonchalant around you or pay close attention to what you’re doing at work.

You Get Turned Down For Promotion
If your boss hates you, he/she will not offer you promotions for which you’ve gone up for. Even after demonstrating your abilities, proven you’re reliable and responsible, you’re routinely passed around when new opportunities arise. Your boss promotes someone you think is less deserving in your stead.

They Find Fault On Excellent Work
If your boss hates you, he/she will consistently strike a note to either disapprove or find faults even on your project that in truth is meritorious. Instead of realizing the whole project’s worth and quality, he/she will nitpick in on tiny issues such as wrong calculation or spelling error. This habit may not only discourage you to work hard, but also dishearten you to show up for work the next day.

They Assign You To Too Much Work
If your boss hates you, he/she will heap upon unrealistic work expectations on your shoulders. It’s bad enough that you’re not getting promoted, appreciated for your work, and neglected out of important meetings. To show that you’re less deserving for the job, your boss will give you more work to finish, as compared to the less work given to colleagues.

You’re The Last To Depart
If your boss hates you, he/she will give last-minute work at the time when you’re about to depart for the day. It gives your boss an edge, and you crack under the pressure. Another sign is you know that the work given can be complete some other day, it’s not as urgent as what your boss deems it to be.

Top 5 Most Destructive Earthquakes Ever!

As humans, we’re usually fraught with the notion of being the most superior race on the planet. But that’s only till the time we come face to face with natural calamities; when the brute force of nature confounds us, shatters us and leaves behind a trail of death and despair.

Indeed, there’s nothing as destructive as nature’s fury and earthquakes top the list in terms of ferocity and damage caused. While heart-wrenching images of the recent Nepal Earthquake (that occurred in April 2015) still haunt our memories, this calamity was nowhere close to the Top 5 Most Destructive Earthquakes, ever witnessed by mankind! Here’s a look at them:-

1. Valdivia Earthquake, Chile(1960)

In terms of magnitude, the Valdivia Earthquake in Chile has been the biggest earthquake that mankind has ever witnessed on planet earth. With its epicentre being in a small town known as Lumaco, this was a full-blown 9.5 scale earthquake that killed over 5000 people, and causes monetary damage to a tune of 400 million dollars! While this massive quake itself lasted for around 10 minutes, it caused numerous landslides, as well as a tsunami in the Pacific, affecting different regions in Japan, Philippines, New Zealand, Hawaii, etc.

2. The Great Alaskan Earthquake, USA (1964)

Incidentally, this earthquake took place on Good Friday, with its epicentre in Prince William Sound, Alaska and a scale of 9.2 is the 2nd most massive, ever to have occurred on this planet. The areas affected directly by the quake were not just restricted to the United States, but also covered Canada, while the after-effect tsunami caused massive havoc in Japan and Hawaii. While the total casualties were reported to be 139 (since the quake lasted for approximately four minutes only), the damage incurred was worth 311 million dollars!

3. The Indian Ocean Earthquake (2004)

In terms of magnitude, this earthquake has been the 3rd most massive, having occurred at a scale of 9.1, and its focal point off the west coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. Triggered by a collision of the Indian tectonic plate with the Burma tectonic plate, the death toll of this violent calamity was above 200,000 spread over 14 countries and the total monetary loss is yet to be estimated, because the resulting tsunami caused worldwide havoc, affecting regions as far as Malaysia, Thailand, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sri Lanka, Maldives and many other small islands on the Indian ocean. Coastal structures were swept out in one go and thousands of people were reported missing.

4. The Tohoku Earthquake, Japan (2011)

The harrowing images of this terrible earthquake are probably still fresh in the minds of millennials, who probably witnessed the widespread news coverage of this 9.0 magnitude quake. The whole of Japan was very badly affected in this unfortunate natural event, while its actual epicentre was in the Oshika Peninsula. This megathrust earthquake lasted for almost 6 minutes, and triggered damages to such a high extent that electricity and water supply was completely severed off in over 4 million Japanese households. Yet another great tragedy was associated with this quake was the resulting nuclear accidents that caused radioactive explosions.

5. Kamchatka Earthquake, Russia (1952)

This comprised of a series of earthquakes of various magnitudes (the highest being 9.0), which also lead to a tsunami in the Pacific Ocean. A number of settlements in the erstwhile Soviet Union were destroyed, the death toll crossing 2000. The tsunami wave triggered was as high as 59 feet and as per former Soviet government records, the entire population in the Kamchatka settlements had to be rehabilitated!

5 Phrases That Will Help You Get Over A Bad Breakup

One of the most difficult parts of the life is the breakup. The never ending grieving mode and torture that we put our body through because of a breakup is shocking and amusing at the same time. The pain of being lonely and the feeling that this pain is forever.
But with the help of friends and constant motivation it is possible to come over this feeling. During the phase when you are trying to get over a bad breakup, here are 5 phrases that surely help you:

1. I love myself
Believe it or not, it works. Self-love is important and we must realize that we are the only ones responsible for our actions and choices. If you love yourself, you will be able to master your feelings and not some idiot who broke your heart.

2. When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead
Who doesn’t want to feel happy and satisfied? Who wants to be bothered by small things? Nobody, so keep telling yourself that you want to be happy and even force a fake smile until you get a real smile. At times, a fake smile is better than a no smile. There is no doubt that smile reduces your stress and anxiety levels.

3. I don’t miss him, I miss who I thought he was
Most of the times we don’t realize that whether we are truly in love with the real person or the picture of the person we have in our minds. When we break up, we miss the person who we thought he was and not the real person.

4. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together
You need to keep in  mind that each situation has some positive aspects to it. To get through a break up, you must learn to appreciate yourself. You are a strong person and you can get through this as just at the end of this road, lies the happiness and something better waiting for you.

5. Life always waits for some crisis to occur before revealing itself at its most brilliant
Most importantly, a break up teaches us that there is something more important in your life, that needs your attention. After a breakup, you have a better idea of what you want and get a clear idea about it and focus. List down your preferences and then find the person of your dreams. And this time, be careful when you choose the partner.

Once you realize that it is important to be happy and value yourself, the half of the battle is won. Now, you just need to believe these phrases and lead a happy and cheerful life.

10 Ingredients For Perfect Skin

The way in which the skin looks is directly connected to the ingredients used for daily meals. Processed foods high in sugar and fats are one of the main reasons for acne skin, increased sebum production and dull complexion. On the other hand, veggies, fruits and nuts contribute to a clean, bright and healthy skin. A handful of ingredients ingested daily benefit your skin more than any expensive cream or treatment. Here are the 10 most effective ingredients for a perfect skin.

Avocado
Avocado is a girl’s best friend in diets as well as in beauty routines. Used on the skin, improves hydration and brightens up the complexion, if eaten it brings a lot of Vitamin E to your body. Vitamin E helps the skin retain moisture and maintain hydrated for a longer period of time. In order for the Vitamin E to be absorbed better, it is advisable to combine avocados with ingredients that contain Vitamin C. Also, avocados (and other Vitamin E containing products) should be consumed moderately to avoid an increase in the triglycerides.

Alternatives: olive oil.

Bananas
Bananas are tasty fruits which are available on the market all year round. They are rich in potassium (good for skin hydration), Vitamin B complex (removes oxidative stress and fights premature gaining) and zinc (fights the germs responsible for acne). To make the most of the banana’s nutrients, eat one and apply another one on your skin. The skin will be pampered from the exterior and the interior for a smooth texture and a natural glow.

Alternatives: spinach and beef (for zinc), dark leafy greens, avocado, yogurt and fish (for potassium), eggs and dairy products (for vitamin B12).

Berries
Tasty and packed with antioxidants, berries represent one of life’s pleasures. Apart from their delicious taste, they are also high in Vitamin E and Vitamin C. Consume them every day for a brighter and more even skin.
Alternatives: citrus fruits.

Carrots
Carrots are high in beta-carotene, an ingredient which acts as an antioxidant. When ingested in combination with Vitamin E and Vitamin C, beta-carotene provides protection from sunburns. Complementary, it helps to achieve a nice tan and prolongs the tan aspect of the skin by stimulating melatonin production.

Alternatives: sweet potatoes, pumpkin, dark leafyvegetables, melon and sweet red peppers.

Citrus fruits
Citrus fruits, such as lemons, oranges, grapefruit, limes, tangerines, and pomelo, are delicious treats with an incredibly positive impact on the body. High in Vitamin C, citruses stimulate the production of collagen, a protein which keeps the young aspect of the skin.

Alternatives: kiwis are also high in Vitamin C.

Eggs
Poached, boiled or sunny side up, eggs are a fast and filling breakfast for people of all ages. But apart from their great taste and appetite control properties, eggs are also great for the skin. Packed with Vitamin A, they help with skin rejuvenation and maintain the mucous membranes healthy. Choline, a type of Vitamin B found in eggs, ensures a good skin-cell functioning by providing a high level of fatty substance for the cell membranes.

Alternatives: Vitamin A is also present in dairy products, meat, fish, apples and sweet potatoes. Chlorine is also present in milk and peanuts.

Green tea
Green tea on the rocks cools you down in summer, while a hot green tea brings warmth and comfort in rainy or snowy days. Regardless of the season, this drink reduces fluid retention, detoxifies the body and improves the quality of the skin. Drank regularly, green tea prevents wrinkles, reduces the chances of acne eruptions and hydrates the skin. There is no better way to treat your body and mind than with a cup of green tea!

Leafy greens
Leafy greens are the go-to ingredients when you want a low-calorie, healthy meal. They are rich in anti-oxidants which reduce skin aging and brightens the complexion. In addition to that, they contain water, which keeps the skin moisturized and fibers which help you digestive system function properly. This means that the level of toxins eliminated through the skin lowers and the risk of acne decreases considerably.

Alternatives: dark colored grapes are also high in antioxidants.

Nuts
Another good source of Vitamin E, nuts can be served as in-between meals snack or sprinkled in salads for a tasty twist. Nuts help you have a healthy, elastic and luminous skin. In addition to that, they ensure a great functioning of the brain. There are two major drawbacks associated with nut consumption: the high content of calories and the increase of triglyceride level.

Water
Nothing compares to a glass of water! The human body needs at least 8 glasses of water per day to function normally. When the body is craving water, skin is one of the first organs affected. Dry, cracked and chipped skin is the result of a poorly hydrated body, so drink plenty of water to keep the body in good shape and the skin hydrated.

Alternatives: there are no alternatives for water, but you can replace some of the water intake with lemonade, flavored water and green tea to add diversity.

Perfect skin can be obtained through a healthy and balanced diet, which includes as many of the suggested ingredients as possible. Eat them raw, in salads and smoothies, or cook them mildly to preserve all the nutrients.
