Why Men Hate Shopping?

You are in a relationship and trying to plan for the weekend? One piece of advice that can prove to be beneficial is that avoid shopping at all costs. Research shows that men get bored of shopping just after 26 minutes. Men really don’t like the crowded malls, the indecisiveness of what to shop and the constant fear of being suckered into buying stuff that you really don’t want or like, are just a few reasons why men are not keen on shopping.

All guys groan the mere idea of heading to the mall and especially with the women. The mere idea of trying the clothes, wandering aimlessly and carrying loads of bags to the car most of which are not there, is not liked by them at all.

An evolutionary psychologist Daniel Kruger at the University of Michigan blames the genes for men to hate shopping. Kruger believes that men in the past were hunters so when they actually find the right specimen, whether a fish or a pair of shoes, they want to kill it and get it out before missing it. This explains the men’s behavior to leave the shopping mall as soon as possible.

And women were primarily the gathers so they feel the urge to check everything to make sure they get the best deal. Women feel the urge to go from shop to shop looking for the best of everything.  Like earlier, the women that returned with full basket had high social status and survived better.

So, next time when your husband or boyfriend doesn’t want to go out for shopping, don’t blame them. Rather, blame the genes. It is natural for them to prefer to spend the time with friends at a pub or watch the game or drink beer while watching the television.
